5/26/2009 - Details Emerge in the Murder of Robert Parkes

On May 19, 2009 Leon County Sheriff`s Deputies were called to 4921 Outlook Court in reference to checking on the welfare of 35 year old Robert Parkes. Parkes had not shown up for work and his co-workers had become concerned. Upon arrival at the residence Sheriff`s Deputies found Parkes deceased inside the residence. Violent Crimes Detectives responded to the scene and found indications of foul play. An autopsy was performed on May 20, 2009, which confirmed Parkes death was the result of homicide.

During the course of the investigation, Detectives obtained information that Tyreese Faust, Amos Jenkins, Alexandria Ford and Latorya Pate may have been responsible for Parkes murder. On Friday May 22, 2009, Faust, Ford and Pate were located and through interviews and evidence collected during the investigation, probable cause for all three subjects was established and they were arrested for murder and home invasion robbery. On Saturday May 23, 2009, murder and home invasion arrest warrants were obtained for Amos Jenkins, who turned himself in to the Leon County Jail on Monday May 25, 2009.

Sheriff Larry Campbell said "these arrests represent the commitment and dedication of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office to ensure that justice for Mr. Parkes, his family and this community is served, and violent criminals such as these are removed from society".

Violent Crimes Detectives discovered during the course of this intensive investigation that Ford and Pate had been introduced to Robert Parkes, at his residence, on Saturday night May 16, 2009. The following night, Sunday May 17, 2009, Faust, Jenkins, Ford and Pate conspired to conduct a home invasion robbery of Parkes. When Ford and Pate arrived at Parkes’ residence they were allowed in by the victim. As Ford and Pate were inside the residence with Parkes, they communicated with Faust and Jenkins, via text messages. Ford and Pate provided information to Faust and Jenkins as to Parkes’ movements and location inside the residence. Ford and Pate also received instructions to move Parkes to another location in the residence to provide an advantage during the robbery. Once Ford and Pate had moved Parkes to the instructed location, Faust entered the residence armed with a rifle. Faust then shot and killed Parkes as he tried to flee to a bedroom. Faust, Jenkins, Ford and Pate then fled the area in Faust’s vehicle. Parkes died as a result of being shot by Faust. It is possible that a safe and a piece of jewelry were stolen during this robbery; however, this has not been confirmed.
